Background on Intel Xeon W-2500 Series
Intel's Xeon W-2500 series is aimed at high-end desktop (HEDT) applications and offers support for quad-channel DDR5 memory, 64 PCI-Express lanes, and up to 26 CPU cores. This represents a more affordable alternative to the W-3500 series, with slightly reduced capabilities. In many ways, these processors (and the preceding W-2400 generation) are the successor to Intel's previous Core X series - which has not been updated in years - and a midpoint between the more mainstream Core line and the upper-tier Xeons.
